Kris Cringle

November 30th, 2009

Hey guys and girls, how is your week going? This week our class has been doing Kris cringle, but instead it’s a bit different. We’re making paper bags and putting 3 little gifts in our Kris cringle’s bag. Everyday we check our bags to see if we’ve got a present. At the end of the week we’re getting our big gift.

We’d like to know if your Doing Kris cringle and what you’re doing for it. Hopefully you don’t have a boy like I do cause I have no clue what to get him and if your not doing Kris cringle then suggest it to your teacher because it’s is really fun!!!

Thanks’ for reading our post…

Mini Chem

October 19th, 2009

Hi everybody,

Today it’s just me Alice and I’m going to tell you about Mini chem.  A member of the CSIRO came to are school and taught us about chemistry. It was very interesting. We went around to different stations and had to complete the tasks. In Mini Chemthere were 7 tasks to do. The things that happened were: colour change, mini explosions, fizzing up and liquids separating. We all had lots of fun in our Mini Chem session. We would like to hear if the CSIRO came to your school.

If you are interested in science why not join the CSIRO Double Helix Club?

Bye for now. Alice!

Hey guys and girls,

today it’s just me Zoe and I’m dying to tell you all about camp. It was so awesome! the camp we went to was called El Shaddai, I would totally recommend it to anyone who’s thinking of going on a school camp.  All the year 6/7 classes went. At the camp it was very wet and rainy. All the staff were very nice and helpful. the first thing we did was get into our dorms and then straight into the activities. There are all kinds of different activities such as Fishing, canoeing, raft making, rock climbing and the vertical challenge. This is working together with your team because one person was on a harness while your team mates stack plastic crates. You have two piles and so  while the person is on one the other people are stacking the other pile higher and higher and you have to get to the top and touch the ceiling. The other activities are archery, the giant swing, which is 12 metres tall and you drop from the top and start swinging which is very scary but really fun. On the giant swing because I’m afraid of heights I was totally terrified. I was that scared, but after wards I was saying let do it again. the archery was so fun when you got the hang of it. But at first I really wasn’t very good but after a while I kind of got the hang of it. There was also some inside activities and entertainment. The inside activities were earth ball which is a huge ball and you play games with it which was really entertaining because you had to dodge the ball. The other thing was screen printing which is fun and it’s a good skill that you should learn because you could be very amazed.

The entertainment we had was a magician, who was very good. We also all got free time for play time for recess and lunch and the things we could do in that time if the teachers were willing to watch us were a giant flying fox, a Tarzan swing, trampolines, play with balls and table tennis and pool tables, and there were even  tennis courts.

There was much much more but I don’t think I can explain much more so all and all I think that the camp was defiantly the best camp I’ve been to and probably the best camp I’ll ever go to. even though the weather wasn’t great we all definitely had a great time and it didn’t really matter.

Just to add the food was fantastic and it was definitely the best chocolate mousse.  Just incase you want to know more go to their website so here it is www.cycsa.org.au/index.htm. That’s all for now guys. Zoe.

CAMP!!!

September 16th, 2009

Hey everyone,

Next week we are going on camp to Murray River!! How cool!!! We are going to be away for 3 days and going to be doing lots and lots of fun activities, even some water activities! It will be a long drive there but it will all be made up for by the fun activities we will do there. We also get to pick our own dorms!!!!!! Awesome this means we can have all our friends in there. Everyone in our class can’t wait to go we’re bouncing of the walls because we want to go so much right now!!! I fell like I could scream because I’m so excited. Well we both are.

Endangered Species!

August 12th, 2009

This term our class is leaning about Endangered Species. We are doing a collaborative work on Endangered Species over Ether Pad with another class. So far we have made a list of other words for Endangered. We also had to do a mind map. It had to show the animal, the country and a bit about it. We also had to write a letter to our pen pals. To say a bit about our self’s because we are both working on endangered species.

Holiday’s!!!!!!!

Meet The Writers

June 30th, 2009

Some students from each year 6/7 class went to Meet The Writers. First there was a long bus ride into the city to the Adelaide Convention Centre. All 2000 students were invited into the big hall. This was where we were introduced to all the writers. Then Kirsty Murray told us all how she became a writer. She told us 3 stories about her child hood. We all got split up into groups and went to our first writer. Our school went to the following writers for our first talk. Christobel Mattingly and Phil Cummings. Our second writers for the second session were Ruth Starke and Christine Harris. Our group got Ruth Starke’s autograph. Soon after we all went to our session with Andy Griffith’s. He told us hilarious jokes and a couple of very funny stories. He told us some of his child hood stories. Then we ate lunch and took a bus ride back to school. We thought it was fantastic. We all agreed that Andy Griffith was the best because of all the funny jokes. By Alice, Zoe, Mikki and Bethany.
